Get through 10DLC without the guesswork.

Before you can text a US list at scale you have to register — a Brand, a Campaign, and a pile of compliance details carriers actually check. Work through this interactive checklist so nothing gets bounced back the week before your send. Your progress saves automatically.

0 / 17 steps done0%

1 · Register your Brand

Your organization’s identity, vetted once. Everything else hangs off this.

2 · Register your Campaign(s)

A “campaign” here is a use case, not an election campaign. Register one per messaging purpose.

3 · Consent & opt-in

Registration asks how you get consent — have this locked down first.

4 · Message content & compliance

What carriers look for in the messages themselves.

5 · Go live & monitor

After approval — keep the number healthy.

Your progress is saved in this browser only — nothing is uploaded. Clearing site data or switching devices resets it.

Why registration exists

Carriers built 10DLC to cut spam and fraud on ordinary numbers. The trade-off: legitimate senders register and prove consent, and in return their messages actually get delivered.

Skipping it doesn’t make you invisible — it makes you filtered. Unregistered A2P traffic on US carriers is throttled, silently dropped, or blocked, so an “it sent fine from my phone” test tells you nothing about a real campaign blast.

Start early

The most common way campaigns get burned is timing: they register the week they need to send, hit an approval delay or a rejected sample message, and miss the moment. Register as soon as you know you’ll be texting.

The consent and content pieces above lean on our opt-in templates and STOP/HELP generator — build those first, then check the boxes here.

10DLC FAQ

What is 10DLC and do I need it?
10DLC (“10-digit long code”) is the US system for sending application-to-person (A2P) texts from a normal 10-digit number. If you’re sending campaign or organizing texts to US mobile numbers from a standard number through a provider like Twilio, you must register a Brand and Campaign — unregistered A2P traffic is heavily filtered or blocked outright.
How long does registration take?
Brand registration is often near-instant to a couple of days; campaign approval can take several days and sometimes longer for political or special use cases. Start well before any election or mobilization deadline — you cannot reliably send at scale until it clears.
Is there a special path for political or nonprofit texting?
Yes — there are dedicated use-case categories for political and nonprofit messaging, and 501(c)(3) nonprofits and registered campaigns may qualify for specific treatment. Eligibility and required documentation vary by provider and by the registry, so confirm the current path with your CSP when you pick your use case.
What is a “trust score” and why does it matter?
When your brand is registered it’s assigned a trust score, which sets how many messages per second and per day you can send. A low score throttles you — a problem if you plan a large GOTV blast. Completing (and optionally paying for) vetting raises the score and your throughput.
Is this checklist official?
No. It’s a practical summary to help you prepare, not the registry’s or your provider’s official process. Requirements and fees change — always follow your messaging provider’s current 10DLC instructions, and treat this as general information, not legal advice.
